The band scales seamlessly from elegant receptions to full-scale dance floor productions — available as a six to nine piece ensemble depending on your event format and vision.

What sets MDB apart is how they approach familiar music. By weaving a live vocal percussionist into the performance, they add texture, momentum, and rhythmic depth that gives pop, funk, R&B, and party hits a fresh, modern edge.

The Voices

Josh Smith performs as a featured Michael Bublé tribute artist at Legends in Concert in Las Vegas. His career includes regional theater, Dollywood — where he earned an IAPAA Performer of the Year nomination and had the opportunity to work with Dolly Parton — and headline performances aboard Carnival, Holland America, and Norwegian Cruise Lines.

Laura Wright's credits span some of the most recognized stages in entertainment. A semi-finalist on American Idol at 16, she has since performed alongside Barry Manilow, Arnel Pineda of Journey, Heart, and Guns N' Roses. Additional credits include Bat Out of Hell: The Musical, Postmodern Jukebox, Raiding the Rock Vault, and the Terry Bradshaw Show.

Both Josh and Laura were selected to perform in the choir for the Red Clay Strays at the 2026 Academy of Country Music Awards, where the band took home Group of the Year.

The Sound

Jay R Beatbox has opened for Wu-Tang Clan, Mobb Deep, and DJ Jazzy Jeff, and was featured in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's American Beatboxer documentary filmed in New York City. His live vocal percussion is a cornerstone of the MDB sound.

The keys chair rotates between Robby Wingfield — an Emmy Award-winning mix engineer with credits including Le Rêve and Baz: Star Crossed Love — and Michael Joy, who has toured with Earth, Wind & Fire.

The Track Record
