Five Years at Summerlin Sounds
Million Dollar Band performs almost exclusively at private events — corporate conferences, galas, award shows, and receptions that aren't open to the public. That's why our annual performance at the Summerlin Sounds concert series in Downtown Summerlin is something we look forward to every year. It's one of the rare opportunities for friends, family, and the Las Vegas community to experience MDB live.
This year marked our fifth consecutive year performing at the series.
Summerlin Sounds is a free weekly summer concert series that showcases local artists in the heart of Downtown Summerlin. It's a place where people gather to shop, grab dinner, and spend a summer evening outdoors, making live music the perfect addition to the experience.
This year, roughly 500 people came out - and they did it in 110-degree Las Vegas heat!
Families spread out on the lawn with chairs and blankets. Kids danced near the stage. Friends, our personal families and visitors from all over Las Vegas settled in for the evening of fun. The band certainly felt every degree of the temperature, but there's something special about a crowd that chooses to be there simply because they love live music. That energy comes right back to the stage.
One of our favorite parts of the evening was performing for so many families. This year we handed out LED foam sticks before the show, and watching the kids dance throughout the night created one of those moments that simply doesn't happen at a corporate event.
The evening also brought a few memorable surprises.
After being off our setlist for several years, "Livin' on a Prayer" made its return. During the song, our guitarist Esteban delivered a behind-the-head guitar solo that earned one of the biggest reactions of the night.
We were also excited to welcome Las Vegas vocalist Sidney Patrick, who opened the concert with her own set. Later in the evening, we invited her back on stage to perform "Treasure" with the band. It wasn't originally planned, but it felt right to feature an artist that’s part of the Simply Modern Production’s family.
A Special Celebration!
Since June 17 fell near the birthdays of our lead vocalists, Laura Wright and Josh Smith, the band surprised them before the show with mini birthday cakes and some pre-show drinks. It was a small moment behind the scenes that made the night feel even more personal.
Five years into Summerlin Sounds, we're grateful to keep returning to one of the few public performances on our calendar. To everyone who joined us, especially in triple-digit temperatures, thank you for spending your evening with us. We'll see you at the next one!
